A Walk with Life
I turned to Life as he walked by my side, “Why is all this necessary?”
Life answered, “Because you are God’s child and He loves you.”
I said, “I work so hard to gain only a short step. I’d like to stand still a while.”
Life replied, “Remember, you are God’s child and He loves you.”
I complained to Life, “My back aches from carrying the weight of the knowledge school tries to cram in my head. My stomach burns from the pain nature’s die cast to me and my feet cry from the imbalance of my spirit.”
Life consoled, “I know you are God’s child and He loves you.”
I whimpered to Life, “My eyes are heavy and my mind groans for a rest that does not exist.”
Life soothed, “You know you are God’s child and He loves you.
“Above all else,” I spoke and wept, “I am much too often alone. The weight of solitude breaks my heart, and your brother, Love, is a stranger to me.”
Life said nothing, but held me as I cried, and my pain melted into hope. That hope brought me comfort, and comfort welcomed rest, and into my rest slipped faith. At last I knew Life’s words were true, for the sprit believes what the mind cannot see. Life brings trials and pain, and hunger so that when pride, logic, and ego break, we can better hear Spirit speaking to spirit, teaching that we are all God’s children divine, and He loves even me.
